I live in South Dublin, within a stretch of the Dublin mountains. Prior to becoming a full-time artist, my former path was in finance, but my passion to paint shone through in the end.
Primarily self-taught, I have always loved painting and have developed a style encompassing a diverse range of influences.
I find inspiration throughout nature and never tire of studying the variations in colour and shapes. The dramatic and expansive skies contrasting against romanticized setting suns, moonlit harbours, or rugged coastlines - these restless elemental forces that shape the Irish landscape cast a spiritual energy. I attempt to capture the essence of these subjects in order to reflect and celebrate this timeless beauty in my work.
I also like to explore the abstract, where I employ the use of palette knives to apply thick layers of oil and mixed media. The result can be a highly texturised finish thus conveying an emotional response to a raw energy.
